Have you left Van Oord or are you receiving a pension?
Even if you currently receive a pension from Pensioenfonds PGB or have a pension with
Pensioenfonds PGB, the new rules will also apply to your pension. Pensioenfonds PGB will
invest your pension and it will develop based on the investment returns achieved.

Our pension is changing
The government, employers and employees have made agreements in the Pension Agreement of 2019 about what the new pension system in the Netherlands should look like. The changes affect almost everyone. These agreements are included in the Future Pensions Act (WTP).
Because in the future pensions will have to be built up in a premium scheme, it is no longer possible to continue to promise a pension build-up for the future as we do now at Pensioenfonds PGB. Your participation in the current scheme will therefore end as a result of the new law. Everyone will participate in a premium scheme. This will also have consequences for former employees and pensioners.

Why a new pension system?
-
Many employees in the Netherlands build up pension in a benefit scheme: a scheme in which the amount of the pension is determined in advance with a certain degree of certainty. In recent years, this certainty has been limited: pensions did not always increase with inflation and were sometimes even reduced. The purchasing power of these pensions therefore became increasingly less.
-
The current system does not sufficiently match developments in the labour market. People are changing jobs more and more often and there are more flexible workers and self-employed people without staff (zzp'ers).
-
Currently, the pension of older employees is considerably more expensive than the pension of younger employees. A higher pension premium is paid for older employees. This makes it less attractive for some employers from a cost perspective to hire older people.
-
The new pension will be more transparent and personal. This will allow you to see better how much pension you are building up and how your pension pot is developing.
